Murder trial mistrial

Moncton Judge George Rideout will oversee selection of a new jury after he declared a mistrial in the murder case against Fred Prosser yesterday. The trial had just begun in the killing of Sabrina Patterson when Judge Rideout heard that one of the jurors had posted comments on an anti-Prosser Facebook group. Judge Rideout said he had no choice but to declare a mistrial because there was a risk that juror may have tainted the rest of the jury. He told the lawyers to come back to court in November to select a new jury.
